PLAY BY THE RULES: WRAPAROUND PLAID
I love that wrapping a plaid flannel around your waist is the new ‘90s homage. It’s a simple look anyone can achieve. My essentials for this are a great pair of skinny jeans, a statement-making tee, and a comfy plaid shirt. I added my petal pink feather necklace and heeled sandals to make it a little flirty. These ripped jeans are in constant rotation, you might remember them from this post. I’m also obsessed with this tee—it walks the line between “everyday tee” and “dressy tee,” which is hard to find. Unbutton your plaid shirt for the perfect wrapped look. Love this super soft version.
BREAK THE RULES: NOT-SO-LADYLIKE PLAID
This looks breaks the rules in two ways. First, it’s an abstract take on plaid that instantly makes you stand out. I like abstract prints in general, so I immediately gravitated toward this swooping skirt. Second, I added a little edge to this otherwise ladylike pattern by wearing a cropped leather-look jacket. I like to play with feminine and fun accessories, like these classic gold toe pumps and this mixed media clutch. Love this outfit for fall transition.

These outfits are part of what I packed for a short trip to Palm Springs. I definitely think a destination can inspire how you feel (and dress!) I always feel chill and beautiful in Palm Springs. The San Jacinto mountains, the desert flowers, and the relaxed person I am while there—that’s why I keep going back.

I really love the first outfit! Its so chic and cool at once! I love how heels make everything look more put together than sneakers. I might have to try it out!

You look really eye catching in all your outfits. I love the tartan garment too! Hoots Mon! (As the Scots say, whatever it means?!)
