Off to a Smooth Start

One thing I’ve learned since becoming a grown woman: my morning will make or break my day. On those days when I can get out of bed just as the morning light is starting to flood into my bedroom, I will usually have a good day. Why? Because I have time to perform my ritual: a glass of cold water, a quiet yoga session right on my living room floor, then showering and dressing. Then it’s go, go, go.

I need my intimates and clothes to be low-fuss so I can approach my day from a solid place. I haven’t always been the best at choosing the right bra and like a lot of women, I often can’t wait to take mine off at the end of the day. But I recently got the chance to try this PLAYTEX undercover smoothing bra which has wide straps, shapewear panels on the sides, and zero padding. Healthy & Beautiful Hair

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not going to have perfectly coiffed hair every day. Hey, I’m a mom! Simple styling is my go-to. But healthier, stronger hair? Yes please! I was recently invited to try the Neutrogena Triple Repair hair care collection. I’m completely smitten!

I was blown away by how luxurious and thick the shampoo and conditioner felt in the shower. My favorite product was the leave-in cream because it’s a combo of repair + protection. The formulas are super rich, moisturizing, and designed to restore your hair. After I used all three products it felt like my hair had just drank a big glass of water.

I hope you like this fun little tutorial I put together for bouncy hair. I started with my hair in its natural state. I love these huge rollers—they’re for volume and lift, not curls. My tip: wait until your hair has air-dried about half way before rolling your hair. The best part is you can do anything while it dries (I browsed instagram). Finally, I used a natural bristle brush out for that soft, full look. These days, I like pinning it behind one ear for a sweet style.

A Bit of Beauty

I’m far from a beauty blogger, but I do love trying new products. There is so much out there, it can be a little overwhelming. Here are a few products I keep reaching for these days.

  • Diptyque Philosykos – Smells like an earthy fig tree and made for autumn mornings.
  • NARS “Damned” matte lip pencil – The vampiest of reds.
  • Benefit Benetint – I like layering this under balm when I don’t want to wear lipstick but still want a wash of color.
  • Marc Jacobs “Le Charm” polish – This shimmering copper pink is so unique and pretty.
  • Chanel Vitalumiere – I like my foundation on the natural, dewy side.
  • FRESH sugar “Honey” lip treatment – For a sweet smooch.
  • Josie Maran Hair Serum – If you have ever thought my hair looks shiny it’s because of this. One or two drops worked up the ends of your hair is all you need.
  • Aveda Control Paste pomade – Sometimes I like piecy looking hair. I tried Bumble&Bumble Semisumo but found it greasy. This, however, is matte and wonderful. 
  • Unearth Malee “Jasmine Sticky Rice Mango” soap – Smells so good I want to eat it. I also bought Himalayan Rose. Check out her shop here or her etsy. 

My Skincare Favorites

I’ve received emails about my skincare routine, so I thought I would make a post. These are the products that help me achieve glowing, lovely skin. Perfect for summer. Links below:

  • The best sunscreen I’ve tried is La Mer SPF Protecting Fluid—it’s a splurge, but it’s perfectly lightweight, melts into my skin, and works seamlessly with my makeup. No matter what brand you love, SPF should be one of your summer essentials!
  • Crème de la Mer is my choice moisturizer, despite its cost. I think I owe the compliments on my skin to this little jar because I didn’t get “pregnancy glow,” I got major dry skin. But this is able to transform my dry skin into dewy skin, so I love it.
  • If you have sensitive skin like me, you need a gentle cleanser. Boscia Soothing Cleansing Cream is great for days when I wear minimal makeup (otherwise I prefer an oil cleanser). This milky cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and clean without that tight-skin feel some cleansers produce.
  • One of the best things you can do for preserving your youthful skin is to care for your eyes. Be diligent about eye cream starting in your late twenties. My current favorite is the acclaimed Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream. Apply at night and have supple skin the next morning.
  • Don’t forget your lips! I am obsessed with FRESH sugar lip treatment, I think this is the best product in their line. Comes in a few variations: sugar, honey, plum, and rose (my favorite). Perks up the natural color of my lips while keeping them super soft. I reapply often during the day and always keep a mini in my purse.
  • Forgot to include a picture of this but my favorite moisturizing mask is LUSH Oatfix, which is a soothing banana and oatmeal mask. I have yet to find a great deep cleansing mask I love.

p.s. Remember, if you are curious about a product, ask for a sample before purchasing. I get samples from places like Sephora, Nordstrom, and Saks. That way you have a better chance of only buying products you love!
