Nails: OPI San Tan-Tonio, OPI Louvre me Louvre me not
Inline with my holiday inspiration post, I wanted to share some of my favorite recent outfits. Today I wore this fabulous oversized sequin top. It’s lined in silk and feels so lush. I paired this with this super sweet Trina Turk sweater jacket. I love it for its textured knit, scalloped sleeves, and cut-outs that go all around. Finally, for a bit of sexiness, I added my new stingray Manolo Blahnik wedges in this gorgeous tiger print.
Style Tip: Contrast the sparkle of sequins with the softness of a knit.
Feminine Knits It’s the season to wear a beautiful knit sweater or dress. In addition to keeping you warm, the texture of a knit adds depth to your outfit. One of my favorites is angora, for its delicate airy knit that makes you looks dreamy in that holiday-film sort of way.
A Statement Coat I love a statement coat because you can pair it with your favorite jeans and sweater just as easily as with a party dress and heels. The day I purchased a coat that would last me longer than one season, my wardrobe began to feel womanly. In the grown up, independent, confident sense of the word.
Party dresses A party dress is the perfect way to add some glamour and romance to your evening. I’m loving gold/bronzy sequin dresses, vintage-inspired lace dresses, and voluminous skirts. Above all else, when looking for your party dress, look for the one that feels like it has a little magic.
So that’s my holiday fashion inspiration, hope this inspires you as well! Soon I will share outfits for each of these categories, but in plus-sizes. xo
I think a heather gray sweater is a classic, wardrobe staple. But you know my style—I love sparkle, even in a sweatshirt. I was recently at Forever21 when this embellished sweater caught my eye. Wish I had taken photos in direct sunlight, because this one is so pretty. A must have!
Here are some of my recent purchases, which I will soon share in outfit posts! I think texture is underrated and often overlooked. But it adds so much to the color, depth, and lines of an outfit. These items are going to be so fabulous this fall.

With this outfit I wanted to debut the new look to the blog. I have renamed the site jaymiranda.com because I think it’s a better fit for different topics I want to write about. I will always love Fatshionable because the fatshion banner is one that many of us learned about together and why many of us started blogging.
A question I’ve been contemplating is how much of myself to share online. I’m interested in blogging not just about fashion but on my thoughts on fashion and how fashion intersects other aspects of my life. Basically, I want to give you a glimpse into my style imagination.
Lately I’ve become obsessed with perfume. I associate scents with memories, places, and moods, so wearing a scent is often an evocative experience. This line from Perfumes: The Guide captures it:
"It would be wonderful to have an orchestra follow us around all day and play a movie soundtrack to match our mood. Wearing perfume is a little bit like that. It scores the day. It makes breathing, ordinarily a purely functional thing, bring a little bit of beauty into you with each breath."
My newest love is Ormonde Jayne’s Ta’if. It’s made with damask roses from Arabia. It start’s off with bright pink pepper, saffron, and dates, and then melts into the beautiful rose. I absolutely love it. It’s mysterious, seductive, but retains the effervescence of the top notes.
This outfit was inspired by the beauty of this scent and damask roses. Check out my super cute top with printed perfume bottles. I’m also wearing a lipgloss by lovely fellow blogger Afrobella’s collaboration with MAC—a gorgeous purple that I’m loving for Fall.
Printed tee: Jcrew
Pants: Nordstrom Sejour
Earrings: Vintage from Palm Springs
Cuff: Unearthed etsy shop
Shoes: Pour la Victoire
Bag: Miu Miu
Lipgloss: MAC “All of my purple life”
Let me know your thoughts on perfume, this outfit, the new look of the blog, or anything else! xx
Here are a few photos of an outfit I wore to have lunch and shop in Costa Mesa, CA. Lately I’m obsessed with this creamy rose hue. Something about it makes me think of sunsets in Morocco.
This top has delicate beading and is so beautiful in this color. It’s super soft and just glides over the body—my favorite trait in an oversized top. It’s from Nordstrom’s plus line Sejour. Love this with my new gold leather Halston clutch!
Do you love this top? I am giving one away, new with tags in size 1x. I purchased this top myself for the giveaway because I love mine so much. The bust for this size measures approx 56 inches around (plus some stretch), to give you have an idea of the slouchy fit.
If you would like to enter please just leave a comment on this post telling me how you would wear it. That’s all! Please enter between now and September 17th at noon (pst). This contest is open to international readers too. I will contact the winner by email. Good luck! <3
In the fashion world, the Fall season is here. But I’m a California girl and my summer always feels longer. This was definitely the season of the crop top. I know there will be naysayers, but so what. Time is fleeting, have fun with fashion. Not next year or when you drop a size—now.
I think crop tops look so so flirty paired with higher rise jeans. I chose mid-blue, mid-rise boyfriend jeans that were slouchy all over. Also added two-tone mary janes, a sparkly necklace, and hot pink glitter nail polish. One of my favorite casual outfits this summer.
Palm Springs is a fashion oasis, from designer shops to thrift stores, it’s not hard to find a gem to bring back home. At Revivals Gallery I found a perfect pair of vintage, high waisted, light blue jeans. At the Estate Sale Company, I found this retro-fabulous pair of vintage gold and pearl earrings. Finally, I visited the Desert Hills Outlets.
These shops are sitting in the desert. So, it really does feel like you’re on a desert journey looking for treasure. At the Prada store I found these Miu Miu heels with double ankle straps in a beautiful wine leather. The only pair and in my size! (Insert beautiful music.) I love a shoe that has an expertly placed strap or buckle and I knew these would be perfect with longer skirts and rolled up pants. I slipped them on and it was instant love. Thank you to my fiancé for these perfect gifts.
So beautiful! I can’t wait to visit again and explore more.
I spent the last three nights in Palm Springs and loved it. We stayed at a boutique hotel called Korakia Penisone. In wearing this outfit to dinner, I was inspired by the beauty and romance of the location. I paired this fabulous tulle skirt with a grey and ivory romper and a blush jacket. Also added my fuchsia velvet platforms, grey python print clutch, & blue stingray cuff.
Ouma skirt, Gap romper, Asos jacket, Topshop heels, Ralph Lauren sunglasses, Unearthed cuff
I’m in love with these velvet platform sandals from Topshop. They’re super bright and rich pink with purple ribbon ties—perfect. I love these shades against grey. Here are some other recent purchases, including a grey MBMJ sweater with metallic pink striped sleeves and a cotton/lace romper from GAP. Added my Janine Basil beaded pill box hat for good measure. This Fall, I’m all about dreamy textures and combining muted and bright tones. xo
Velvet heels: Topshop, Romper: Gap, Sweater: Marc by Marc Jacobs via Nordstrom
This was my outfit for a party last night. After I saw how gorgeous this dress looked on xtina, I had to have it. I love the stripes against these snakeskin Helmut Lang heels. I think so. cal sunsets are beautiful, and you can see a bit of one in the honeyed look of these photos taken outside. xoxo
No matter how you feel about Carrie Bradshaw, there is no denying her fictional closet is the stuff of dreams. The episodes in Paris are perfect and everything I want fashion-wise at the moment. Stripes, sequins, feathers, tulle, embellishments—beautiful.
P.s. Who doesn’t love Carrie in Halston? You can have something similar in this dress from Forever 21, available in plus sizes. So perfect and affordable, you know I had to have it. Pair it with sparkly Manolos and a fur coat—and you’ll be NY or Paris ready.
This summer, my go-to outfit consists of boyfriend jeans and a striped top. I love it because it’s a pretty easy way to look and feel chic during the hot summer months. Here is one variation I did this week—blush peg pants and a black and white cropped top.
I wish I were in Paris! Instead, I’ll be in Los Angeles this summer. Looking forward to getting a tan and hitting up my favorite places to shop. Thanks for reading!
I have never received so much attention or so many compliments as I did on this dress. So sexy. Definitely one of the sexiest dresses I’ve ever worn. Between all the ruching and this juicy color, I am in love. The pictures don’t do it justice!
I wore it all night and it kept it’s shape beautifully. The material is great and so comfortable. This is a convertible dress, which means you can wrap it in different styles. I was scared I might not be able to wrap it properly but it’s pretty simple! There are also different styles/instructions via the Monif C website. I heard the dresses are selling quickly—something to consider if you are thinking about getting one!
I paired it with my pink studded heels, a snake print clutch, and gold necklace. My fiance surprised me with Tiffany diamond earrings, which I also wore. I forgot to photograph them but they are beautiful. You know I love sparkle.
Monif dress, Pour La Victoire heels, Joanna Laura Constantine necklace, SimplyBe bag
P.S. This is my first Monif dress. For reference, I bought this in size 1 and felt the size chart was accurate. <3
This is what I see every day when I walk toward my closet. I may be feeling low but when I open my closet door, I get a burst of energy from all the colors, textures, and sentiment attached to different garments. And my shoes are just there being fabulous.
In my dresser I keep things like jeans, cotton tees, and lingerie. I included a picture because my perfumes, jewelry boxes, and other trinkets always brighten my day.
The best fashion advice I can give any woman is be really picky about what you put in your closet. This is a good way to ensure you have a closet full of things you absolutely love! I personally believe your wardrobe is always unfinished and changing.
Also, remember it can take years to develop a wardrobe your truly love. So don’t worry if you are just starting out. I definitely believe in quality over quantity. <3
I’ve had some great hair moments in my life. Others I’ve collected from books, movies, and fashion editorials. You can say they form part of my fashion/beauty imagination.
One of my absolute favorites is the final scene of season two of Sex and the City, when Carrie’s relationship (and hair) are compared to The Way We Were. Carrie goes on recreate a scene from the film with Big—saying to him, “Your girl is lovely Hubbell.” He says “I don’t get it,” to which she responds, “And you never did.” She turns around, the music rises, and her gorgeous curls fly in the wind. Such a great moment!
By way of this introduction, let me share with you my favorite hair products. These have led to some of my favorite hair moments. Nothing like a good hair day.
1. LUSH Karma shampoo bar: I love this shampoo because it leaves my hair really clean and it’s environmentally friendly since it just melts away. Love that this is paraben-free. Be careful not to overwash your hair, as this can lead to dryness.
2. Oyin Honey Hemp conditioner: I love this company! I avoid silicones in shampoo/conditioner so this all natural conditioner is great. It’s really rich. I only use a tiny bit on my ends, otherwise my hair gets weighed down.
3. Aveda Be Curly: If I’m want to define my curls, I use this in damp hair. By far the best curl enhancer I’ve tried. I air dry or blow dry with a diffuser. Definitely feel like Carrie with my curls floating free. The bigger the better.
4. T3 Evolution Hair Dryer: There are a few things in my life that if they broke, I would immediately buy again. This is one of them. I paid $300 for this dryer but it gives the best blow-out ever and is definitely worth it. I never use flat irons.
5. Bumble & Bumble Styling Lotion Spray: This is a heat protectant and it works so well. I spray it on the underside & top of my hair in sections to blow dry. This is very important because heat damage should be avoided as much as possible.
6. Kenra Hot Spray: This is a heat styling product that should be used on dry hair. It smells amazing and I think it’s a wonderful finishing product.
7. Big Sexy Hair Spray: For the sexist volume, this is the only hair spray I’ll use. I spray it toward my roots and style with my fingers. So good.
Notes: My hair is naturally wavy & fine, but I think these products could work on a variety of hair types. I don’t heat style everyday. Some days you should give your hair a break. I also love making an avocado+honey hair mask for moisture!
Feel free to use this post to talk about hair, hair styles, favorite products & tips!
If you read my last post on spring style inspiration, you know I’ve been dreaming about bright pink pants. I have also been wanting to find silk pants because they’re so luxe. Imagine my excitement at finding a pair of hot pink silk pants by Ralph Lauren!
These were a dream come true. I’m loving hot pink for Spring, so I’m really happy with this outfit. I think black and cream stripes look amazing against vibrant hues.
I envision my spring style consisting of pale blazers, lots of thick stripes, relaxed silhouettes, and bursts of fuschia. Here is my take on three different ways to wear this cute tee from J. Crew this Spring!
(1) I think a blush pink blazer looks so great with a pair of boyfriend jeans. This outfit feels very casual but keeps you feeling chic and beautiful, perfect for a casual date or a day of shoe shopping. These patent Repetto flats are adorable.
(2) A white blazer is so striking. Don’t you think black and white stripes look amazing against hot pink? Perfect for a not-so-casual date or a day of heart breaking. Contrary to my expectations, the Louboutin “Daffodil” heels are incredible in real life. If I weren’t saving for bigger purchases, I would definitely get these!
(3) A sequin blazer is so perfect for dinner out. I think a shimmering jacket would look amazing with a pair of slouchy white trousers and d’orsay heels. This is so understated but still so sexy. I’m hoping to wear something like this on one of my nights in Las Vegas next month!
In an effort to clear things from my closet, I have made a site where I will be listing clothes, shoes, and accessories. Please visit pink lip shop or click the image above. Shipping to the United States. Contact me if you have questions!
I’ve wanted a pair of high waisted jeans for the longest time. So happy I have this pair from City Chic. I love the panels around the waist, the column of buttons, and how the jeans hug the body. I paired mine with a button up because I saw Kim Kardashian wear a pair of high waist jeans like this.
I definitely think plus sizes can look great in this style, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t wear something because of your size. Life is short, have as much fun with fashion as you want! I didn’t wear shapewear with these because I don’t find shapewear comfortable. And it’s hard to feel sexy if I’m not comfortable. So forget the spanx.
I used to feel shy wearing certain things when going out by myself. This is funny, but my tip is to go out with your ipod and play something that makes you feel like you’re walking on your own catwalk. Some of my favorites are Gwen Stefani’s “Luxurious” and Beyonce’s “Diva” or “Kitty Kat.”
Top: New Look, Jeans: City Chic, Shoes: Pour La Victoire, Bracelet: Fennimas Jewelry
I wanted to let my American readers know that City Chic recently launched its US site. I’ve shopped there before and LOVE their jeans. They have some cute stuff on the site, go see! Did you know City Chic is going to participate in the Australian Fashion Week this year? If their past performance there is any indication of what’s coming, I’m excited! Can’t wait to see the images and wish I were there.
Thank you to Danielle, who blogs at DaniMezza & City Chic’s blog, for letting me know about these jeans. And many thanks to City Chic for sending them to me. Thanks for reading. <3
p.s. for those who asked about sizing, i have other cc jeans and thought the high waisted style ran a little bit smaller. if you are in between sizes, think about sizing-up.
I love today’s outfit but I only had enough time to snap a few pictures outside my home. Hope you don’t mind these. I fell in love with this skirt when my friend Nicolette posted it and looked gorgeous in it. I had to have it! Love these colors together.
Below you’ll also find a video I made! I haven’t made one in a long time but had some extra time tonight and wanted to share. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think!
Jacket, top, and skirt: ASOS, Necklace: Anthro, Shoes: Miu Miu
Everything about this outfit was about contrasts of texture. Tulle, leather, lace, jersey—each tending toward soft or structured. This Rodarte for Target dress is dainty but the blazer and boots aren’t so delicate.
I guess this look is sort of 90s-dress-with-combat-boots, but you can lift the chicness of the outfit by incorporating some stylish elements: a platform boot, a tuxedo cut blazer, a slim belt, & some sparkly accessories. What do you think?
Here are my first purchases of the new year. I’m trying to be really picky about my shopping so I haven’t bought anything this month until now. I definitely recommend a no-buy challenge to people wanting to use their wardrobes more creatively. I also think it makes adding something new to your closet that much more fun.
My birthday is in two weeks (yay) so this is an exception! I decided to get a pretty dress, a sparkly sweater, a classic denim jacket, and a pair of pink pants.
Hello again! Thank you for all the lovely messages from people wanting me to continue blogging. I’ve missed it and missed all of you too! I definitely want to keep writing and plan to make different kinds of posts (e.g. beauty, musings) in between outfit posts.
I am in love with my new cape and its darling gold buttons. Worn over jeans and a white tee for an easy chic look. The cape is from River Island, a UK brand I purchased through asos.com. The quality is great and I love the brand, presently available up to size UK18.
Makeup: Chantecaille tinted moisturizer, MAC Strayin lipstick, MAC blacktrack fluidline liner, MAC grand duo blush, Diorshow blackout mascara.
I remember being a young girl and wishing for so many things that were beyond my reach at the time. Life has changed so much and I guess I could now buy myself my own gifts. (But, what fun is that?) There is still something magical about this season! Take a look at my wish list this year—
The things I’m wishing for are perhaps shinier and prettier than I could have foreseen years ago. But, per Eartha Kitt’s Santa Baby, “Think of all the fun I’ve missed / Think of all the fellas that I haven’t kissed / Next year I could be just as good / If you’d check off my Christmas list…”
1. Cocoa Bella chocolates: I love this San Francisco shop and their artisan chocolates.
2. Ipad: As a blogger, I would LOVE to be able to read blogs and magazines on this.
3. Louboutin heels: so sexy yet at such a comfortable height. Must pair w/ peg pants!
4. Hanky Panky thongs: the best thongs ever in a range of colors. Def recommend these.
5. Chanel: Dragon is the best red lip, Bel Air glossimer dreamy, & blue polish so sweet.
6. Tom Ford cat eye sunglasses: a chic way to look mysterious and sexy next summer.
7. Seda France and Diptyque candles: in glorious Japanese Quince and Feu de Bois.
8. Louboutin velvet lace ups: beautiful purple, so perfect for this season & the next.
I love soft shades and cute pants so when I saw these peg pants from ASOS curve, I knew I had to have them. Note: these run large compared to other pants I’ve tried from them. I sized down and they were still loose around my waist. Asos Curve recently added several more cute pants to their range so check them out!
I think this pinkish-brown shade looks so good against this burgundy button up. I love wearing these pants because they are comfortable—a good alternative to wearing jeans. I’m trying to hunt down a skinny brown belt to wear with these in the future. What do you think? Are you wearing peg pants this season? xx
Shirt: Gap, Pants: Asos Curve, Necklace: Anthropologie, Shoes: Miu Miu
It’s around this season that many people reflect on the year thus far. I have so many reasons to be thankful, one being the community of people that I have come to know through my blog. Thank you to everyone who, even when posts are scarce, continue to support me and my blog!
Next, I wanted to share this cute blog feature. It always makes me happy to know the blog is reaching people in places I never imagined. Here, the blog featured on Style Italia. I love Beth Ditto and hope I can meet her some day. Thanks for reading, ciao!
Hello everyone! I have an upcoming outfit post but before that I wanted to make a short post to announce that Australian retailer City Chic has launched its US site. You may remember that Fluvia Lacerda was a model for one of their recent campaigns, which you can view at Plus Model Magazine.
I have a couple items from City Chic that I love and wear all the time. Some previous outfit posts highlight their clothing, like this one. In terms of sizing, I’ve based myself off their size guide and found it to be accurate. Anyway, here are my favorite items on the site right now. I wasn’t planning on shopping this weekend but these are making me want to reconsider! I hope they add more items soon.
With the launch of the US site, City Chic is offering free shipping to US customers, free returns, and a 30% discount, with code CR30FS.
This Fall I want to be wrapped in thick knits and rich colors. Remember the movie Hocus Pocus? My favorite Halloween movie! I always loved the witches’ clothing and I think this knit cape from Evans gives off a chic witchy vibe. Perfect for October. A cape goes great with a chunky boot, like these by Jeffrey Campbell. Underneath I’m wearing a flowy top and my Asos jeggings. So comfortable, but still stylish.
If you are a good witch I would suggest sticking to a bright lip. I recently bought Rock & Republic blush and I’m so impressed by the quality. So pigmented, I def recommend them. In these photos I’m wearing a bright coral shade called “Immoral” and my lipstick is MAC “Moxie.” I like bright lips and cheeks during Fall because the day feels so grey otherwise. I prefer liner + mascara to eyeshadow for daytime.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons for fashion. This year I’m focusing on adding specific garments to my wardrobe from four categories. While the looks I selected come from straight-size designers, I still think they are good sources of inspiration for women of any size. The task, as always, is to find things in our size that make us feel fabulous. I’ve also included six items that I’m definitely adding to my closet.
1. Leopard. This can be bold or subtle, but it always seems to impart a confident sexiness. I’m very picky about leopard print, but when you find a good print, it can be so good. Don’t be afraid of this print! I like how it can shine when it’s just a detail on a shoe or bag and the wow-factor of wearing more.
2. Chic pants. I’m a jean lover but this fall I prefer trousers. Two styles I love: cigarette cut (think Audrey) and slouch (think Sakina)—a chic way to stay comfortable this season. I found some cute styles at Lane Bryant but I’m always looking for more! I love the fact that the whole look changes depending on proportion and which top you select. Go from day to night by just adding heels. Love!
3. Soft Tans. For me, this is the updated and more beautiful version of the military trend, the color palette being a bit softened but retaining many of the same shapes. Isn’t tan so gorgeous when paired with pale pink? Definitely love the look of mixing different shades of tan too. A must-have color this fall.
4. Fur and Drama. This is all about standing out. There are many faux-fur options out there that do not sacrifice style. Likewise, there are many coat styles that will give you drama, but my favorite is the cape. So sophisticated. This season, I want a cape and an oversized fur jacket—very Sex and the City.
Fall Shopping List
This faux fur jacket Evans is exactly what I want for fur this Fall. It exists in two colors but I prefer the grey. I want to wear it with jeggings and flats but also maybe with a shorter hemline, tights, and booties. This leopard panel basque from Evans is so sexy. When I saw it in person I thought of Dolce & Gabbana dresses that have bras built in. This would be gorgeous peeking out from under a dress or top.
An oversized shirt will be the perfect complement to chic pants. I love this white top from Next UK, a great retailer that offers many (though not all) styles in plus sizes. This season, my go-to colors for the oversized shirt are white, crimson, and pink. And of course, every plus-size blogger seems to want this coat from Evans! Also a good option for those who want to wear only a little fur this fall.
Is that velvet? Well, it’s actually velour but still a gorgeous way to wear this trend. I’m not one for velvet dresses, but this I can do. Will be beautiful paired with different textures. Finally, this sweater is from Asos Curve (and I believe not out just yet) but it’s going to be an easy way to wear tan and keep warm at the same time. Wearing this with dark rise jeggings and leather boots!
That’s all for now! Remember, you don’t have to completely change your wardrobe each season, choose key pieces wisely and you will be very happy with your Fall outfits! Thanks for reading! xo
Lately I’ve been loving chic trousers. These carrot pants were on sale at Lane Bryant and they’re actually the only LB item I own, but I’m in love with them. I think they look great with this French Connection sequin top too. I usually don’t wear all black but when I do, I enjoy combining different textures.
The Beth Ditto collection at Evans UK launched recently and I bought this sweet cardigan. I remember seeing it at the Fall preview in NYC during the YFF conference. I had made a mental note to buy it. So cute! Also, I’m excited that I was able to wear these suede Miu Miu heels now that the weather is changing. If you love Miu Miu too then I recommend you visit my fellow Miu Miu lover and friend Nicollete’s blog, Nicollete Mason. Her taste is exquisite and her blog has so much fashion eye candy.
I finished this outfit by adding my new cuff bracelet from Fennimas. If I had to describe Rachel’s work in one word it would have to be luxe. Thick gold chains, embellished cuffs, statement necklaces, and sparkly rings, her jewlery always makes me feel fabulous. I recently got a couple pieces that I am so eager to share! I bought a necklace that took my breath away. Cannot wait to show you!
Posts have been scarce the last couple weeks because my non-internet life has kept me busy, but I do have material for new posts! I’ve made a few fashion purchases and I bought some awesome makeup that I want to review. Thanks for reading! xo
Hi everyone! Still working on my fall fashion post but in the meantime wanted to share some of my all time favorite shoes. I’m sure you know how much I love shoes, so narrowing down a list is difficult. I recently watched a short film where Mr. Louboutin was speaking on the allure of shoes, saying it is a woman that carries her clothing but it is the shoes that carry the woman.
As for upcoming purchases, I have already decided on a pair of black Louboutin simple platform pumps because they are perfect and so versatile. But I do want a fun style too! Tell me your favorite!
These are Tom Ford era Gucci sandals that also came in gorgeous green and gold. I love this iconic heel. The corset back, leather, and gold bamboo make these ultra sexy. I’ve been trying to track these down for years. I just learned of a reputable seller who is offering these (in green) and I have to decide whether I want to get them!
These Louboutin “Carnaval” heels (modeled by Jennifer Lopez) are so fun. I love when a shoe can be dramatic and delicate at the same time. I think this is the perfect example of a shoe that is even more stunning as it walks away from you. Seems to me they are begging to be danced in, don’t you think?
These Louboutin “Very Prive” heels in purple lizard are just exquisite. And so is the bag, but focus on the heels! I’m in love with the deep saturated color and the striking contrast to the red sole. I’ve seen these in real life and they are even better. These were re-released not long ago and I’m dying to get a pair. These are currently on the top of my list.
This pair of Valentino lace heels are like something out of a dream. I imagined they would pair so well with the Alexander Mcqueen gown worn by Kate Moss in this amazing clip. Angelic and haunting, just like these shoes. Perfect elegant heels. Something magical about these!
Finally, Louboutin Fifi in “Volcano strass.” These heels are covered in multicolored crystals and sparkle SO MUCH in light. They also seem to change color as you walk. I love almost all the strass heels, my favorites being aurora (sparkly silver Cinderella-worthy shoes) and this volcano shade. They make my heart flutter. It is however difficult to rationalize their very high cost (over $3K) even for a shoe lover!
I loved this summer so much and I’m sad it’s over. Had so much fun in New York City, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas! Here are two of my favorite summer looks. My next post will be a fall wishlist!
I feel like the last blogger on earth to blog about tap shorts. These Torrid shorts are so comfortable and so perfect for summer. I love the bright print paired with this “Bardot” top from ASOS. I don’t think I’ve worn shorts that are above-the-knee in years but it felt fabulous on one of the Bay Area’s last hot days.
My next outfit was what I wore to lounge around the pool of the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. I bought three fantastic swimsuits this summer. If you’re around my size I highly recommend suits by La Blanca, they’re excellent quality, chic, and sexy. I personally dislike swimsuits that have skirts attached. Finding swimsuits that are fashionable is difficult but the best I’ve found are definitely La Blanca (for sizes up to 16/18) and Monif C (for sizes 14-24). Love love love this gold chain from Fennimas. Bought it because it reminds of me of a vintage Versace necklace. So fabulous and flashy, perfect for Las Vegas.

P.S. Be sure to check out my post about Fatshionable’s birthday below!
Happy Birthday to Fatshionable.com! This month I’m celebrating one year of blogging. I have loved getting to know readers and other bloggers, some of whom are my best friends now.
Since the blog started, there have been over 600K visits from people from 161 countries. In terms of who is reading, the blog is most popular in the United States, France, and the UK. Finally, the blog has been featured in some amazing publications, including French Glamour Magazine, Marie Claire South Africa, and Grazia. When I started this blog I never imagined any of this would happen!
Your messages, comments, and emails are best part about blogging and you constantly inspire me to keep posting. It’s been an incredible year and I’m so thankful to everyone who has supported me along the way. Here are some of my favorite outfits from the past year. I will keep shopping and keep posting. As always, thank you for reading. I love you all!
When I told you I was going to the YFF Conference I said I wanted to live out my Sex and the City dreams. I knew I needed an outfit that would make me like a fabulous plus size Carrie Bradshaw. I wanted tulle and sparkle and I think everything came together beautifully. I loved my outfit!
I wore this to the meet & greet event, one of the best events of the weekend. I loved meeting so many blog readers! Thank you so much to everyone who came. It was a night I will never forget!
The skirt was custom made by Ouma Etsy and was even more beautiful in real life. I can’t recommend them enough. One of my best Etsy buys! The style I picked was the hand dyed tea length skirt and the color I chose was a soft blushy tan. The sequined top is from French Connection and the necklace from J.Crew. The clutch is from SimplyBe. Shoes are Louboutin.
I have more pictures than I would be able to post here so I will def make a flickr account for the blog! xo
P.S. I’m about to go to Las Vegas so my next post will be from there!
The retailers we visited in New York gave us gift bags and in my Evans bag was this cute rose-print scarf. I usually only wear scarfs in cold weather so I was a little unsure how to wear it. Then I watched an episode of Sex and the City where Carrie was wearing a scarf as a top—I gave it a try!
I just folded the scarf into a triangle and tied it behind my back. You could wear a bandeau top under the scarf if you want more coverage. One tip: fold the scarf over the back of the bra so as to prevent the bra from peeking out. I added a denim jacket once it got a little cooler in the evening.
I know many of us are still reluctant to go out showing our arms or back but trust me when I say that you are most likely the only person who is so focused on them. I wasn’t feeling so well in the weeks before the YFF conference but being around women who were stylish, body positive, and gorgeous completely re-energized me. When I wore the strapless top to the NY rooftop party, that was the first time in a long time that I’d worn something strapless and I felt fabulous!
So my suggestions to anyone who is unsure about baring a little more skin: surround yourself with body-positive friends, go do something fun, wear your skin-baring clothing and tell yourself you are beautiful, because you are!
Lately I’ve been more interested in jewelry. I found this green necklace and fell in love. For those of you who may not be too good at accessorizing (like me), I def suggest going for a statement necklaces. They can really bring an outfit together and require little thought. I love ones with big stones, sparkle, or several chains. Will be highlighting some of my favorite necklaces here soon!

The photo shoot we did with Plus Model Magazine was amazing. Special thanks to Maddy from PMM! I’ve never experienced anything like it and it was so much fun to get our hair and makeup done! Pictures are set to come out soon and I will definitely post about it when they are released! For the shoot I wore jeans, a sparkly striped top, a beaded hat, and my Helmut Lang heels.
I went into hair and makeup with an open mind, though I knew I wanted a bright pink lip. Tara Taylor, one of the very talented makeup artists, used an OCC lip tar on my and I looooved it! The color is called “Anime” and I already ordered a tube! It was creamy, non-drying, and lasted for hours!
I was so excited to meet Rachel Fennimore, the designer behind Fennimas Jewelry. I snapped some pictures for you to see what we were able to sample. I loved so many things and splurged on two necklaces, which I will post more about later. I bought the pink feather necklace and the gold multi-chain necklace! I love them so much and Rachel was so sweet and awesome!
After the photo shoot, we went for dinner and drinks with City Chic at Cafeteria. All I can say is I looove Aussies, they are so much fun! Here I am seated next to Phil, the CEO of City Chic. Below you can see Lucy, a designer for the brand, as well as well as the beautful Fluvia Lacerda. And of course, the lovely Gabi, Maddy, Sakina, Hayley, and Xtina!
After dinner we went to the very luxurious Gansevoort for a rooftop party. Of course, since City Chic was there, I wore my favorite City Chic top and my new Fennimas necklace! I danced with the other girls and enjoyed the gorgeous views of New York. Again, we had so much fun—a crazy night I will never forget!
Friday was first day in New York and in the morning we met up with Evans representatives for a delicious brunch at Le Caprice on 5th Avenue. Later we went to the Trump Soho hotel to check out a preview of their Fall/Winter collection and get a peek of the upcoming Beth Ditto collection!
I can’t share any pictures of the Beth collection but I can tell you that I loved it and definitely want to buy a couple things! Hopefully you will love it too. The Fall collection is set to start being available toward the end of August. I tried on some of my favorite pieces!
It’s been a while since we had a shoe post! I love heels and have a lot of fun in them, but contrary to what a lot of people believe, I don’t wear heels every day. I am however, really picky about flats. Just because they’re flats doesn’t mean they don’t have to be just as fabulous as your other shoes.
Today I wanted to share a pair of Pazzion flats that I purchased recently. I think these are only available in a few Asian countries, so if you want to try this brand you have to contact them or try ebay. I paid about $100 for these, which is a great price considering how beautiful they are. Definitely a gorgeous flat. Sparkly and in metallic pink leather. They feel like princess shoes!
What do you think? Where do you buy stylish flats? Comment below!
Hi everyone! It’s been a while since my last outfit post! I wanted to show this super cute organza jacket I got from the ASOS Black collection. It’s perfect for going out on a warm summer night. I wore a sheer tee underneath for a cool layered effect. The midwash jeggings from ASOS Curve are so comfortable and it’s nice having an alternative to dark denim, which I usually favor.
I’m going to try to post clearer shots of my makeup from now on. Today I wore La Mer foundation, MAC Grand Duo blush, Mac Blacktrack liner, Shu Uemura mascara, and Mally B-Sexy gloss.

P.S. Just a reminder that I’m on twitter & facebook if you want to chat with me! Love my readers!
Here are some photos from my trip to Los Angeles. Aside from some business I did while there, most of my time was spent with my sister and eating amazing food! I love this city.
I fell in love with the purple Louboutins pictured below. More on my shoe quest later—I’m going to need your help picking a pair to get in New York. This is going to be the celebratory purchase I will be making during my trip to NY for the YFF conference, so I’m really excited!
It’s been a while since my last outfit post because I was waiting to use my new Nikon dslr camera. I’m still learning how to use it, but I’m happy that picture quality is improving on the blog. I’m going to Los Angeles this week so I expect I’ll have some fun pictures to share!
I love flowy tops with jeans but to keep things a little interesting I paired the look with these animal print booties. I think scrunched up skinnies are so perfect with booties! I brought along one of my blazers too. I received this gorgeous necklace from Fennimas and I love it! The onyx horn pendant looks so good against the sparkle of the chains and beads. Great quality and so stylish!
I recently bought a sample package of Big Sexy Hair products and OMG I love them! I used the shampoo/conditioner but I think the star of the line is the hair spray. I just used a little and shook my hair with my hands and my hair was huge! It lasted a long time but by the time I took these photos it was more subdued. I definitely need full size versions! Thanks for visiting my blog! xo

I was inspired to write this post after I got a bag of saltwater taffy from the shop pictured above, on Pier 39 in San Francisco. Taffy makes me think of hot weather, the beach, and the boardwalk. With that in mind, I’m sharing some of my favorite clothes and shoes that I think capture the mood.
I love Stefanie Bezaire’s designs, they are so whimsical and pretty. I appreciate her use of excellent materials because comfort is really important when putting together your summer wardrobe. I would pair the blue top with a pair of wide-leg jeans and wedges for a casual lunch on the pier. Pair the skirt with a cami, cardigan, and pretty flats for a day of shopping. Add some dark pencil cut jeans and high heels to this black sweetheart top for a summer date. I also love this Faith21 top for those looking for a super affordable way to mix in a playful cut and color to their closet.
These handmade skirts by Ouma Etsy are so amazing and come in fun summer colors. The best thing about them is that they are custom made to fit you. This would be amazing for a party but I could also see someone channeling their inner Carrie Bradshaw, with a fitted tank and your favorite Manolos. I haven’t worn my Manolos nearly enough, so I definitely need a skirt like this!
Finally, these are some of my favorite shoes for summer. The large bow on these tan Valentino wedges makes them playful but the overall shape is classic enough to get you through more than one summer. I LOVE lace up shoes. Especially for those who may have trouble with the widths of some designer heels, laces offer a great deal of flexibility in fit. These Coach heels are so perfect for the season and have a cool retro vibe. You can find both pairs at Nordstrom.
Do you love any of this? Do you love taffy? Do you think I should get a pair of these shoes (which ones)? Tell me in the comments! xo
This unique and stylish dress was very graciously sent to me by eShakti. It has stretchy panels that make some parts of the dress look more transparent than others, but the layer underneath ensures you have enough coverage throughout. The dress is well made and looks more expensive that it is. I got mine in a size 16 and I may bring the waist in a little but other than that, I think it’s perfect.
For this first outfit, I wanted something a little dressed down. I put this chambray shirt on top of it after seeing a woman pair denim with an Herve Leger skirt. I love this outfit with these strappy shoes because they’re super comfortable but keep the outfit interesting and show off my purple pedi!
My friend Gabi of YFF pretty much started a trend of plus size women wearing short dresses with blazers. I had never tried the look until this weekend, but I can see why so many love it. It’s dressy, but also relaxed and comfortable, but still sexy. I wore a pair of booties because I thought the look needed a more substantial heel in order for the outfit to have some balance.

Years ago I would have been afraid to even try on a short skirt due to my fear of showing cellulite but I say to hell with fearing cellulite! Wear what you love and be happy. Thanks for visiting the blog!
I am incredibly honored to have been included in the June issue of French Glamour magazine. The feature includes Stephanie, Sakina, Kylanita, Gabi, and Lilli. This is amazing and I’m so happy to be in the company of these gorgeous and talented women. Thank you to French Glamour and thank you to everyone who supports the blog! Vive les fatshionistas!
P.S. In case you missed it, check the post below for details on the 20% discount to Janine Basil’s cute etsy hat shop! Also, today is the last day to use the discount at Leilanni for fringe necklaces!
I love the incomparable Isabella Blow—style icon, fashion editor, and hat muse. The world is less fabulous without her but she left the fashion world so much in terms of talent she mentored, fashion she inspired, and of course a few very striking images. She is an inspiration for all who dare to be different.
Thinking about her these last few days, I’ve become obsessed with finding hats!
Some day I hope to own a Philip Treacy hat but until then I turned to etsy to find the perfect hat for my New York trip. I wanted something sequined or beaded, pretty, whimsical, with a little burlesque mixed in. I definitely found it in the work of Janine Basil, who makes amazing hats in her etsy shop!
I don’t see many women wear hats and I myself didn’t own a fancy hat until I found this etsy seller, but this is a sad realization because millinery is truly an art. For my first hat I went for a gorgeous beaded pill box. I already have an outfit in mind! I paid $95 for my hat and while I know that can sound like a lot, I think it’s worth it for pieces that are really special, especially handmade. Janine’s store has hats and fascinators priced around $30 and up. Definitely check her out, I LOVE her shop! Here are some of my favorites and the hat I chose for myself! Janine Basil’s etsy hat shop.
Edit: Janine Basil just contacted me about a special offer for my readers! Enter “Fatshionable” in the message box at checkout to get 20% off your purchase! Discount ends May 30th. I guess this is unique to Etsy, but the discount works in the form of a refund after you pay. This is the way the last etsy discount for the blog worked too and everyone I asked said it worked perfectly. All questions about the discount should be directed to her etsy shop. Thank you Janine!
I’ve been trying to think of ways to dress down this cage dress because it’s gorgeous, but until now I’ve only worn it to parties. I wore my denim jacket over it and I love that the dress looks like a skirt. I think the denim gave the look a flirty western spin that is so cute! I like dark heels but I thought black shoes would take away from the casual feel I wanted, so these brown heels are perfect.
I know I’ve posted a closeup of these shoes before but I wanted to show them again because I have another pair that I will be including in an upcoming giveaway, along with other cool things, so check back if you love these heels as much as I do.
Tell me what you think of this outfit! Also, if you have suggestions on other ways I can make this dress more casual, let me know. Thanks for visiting the blog! xo
