Outfit: H&M Dress, Zara heels
What are you reading this month?
I’m always in the midst of so many books with our girls, but these are a few that I’m enjoying on my own:
- The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin – Norton Annotated Edition – This is the best autobiography ever written and it’s full of wisdoms that are still relevant in our times.
- The Spectator archives – I’m reading these English periodicals from the 1700s because Franklin praises them in his autobiography. They’re fascinating. I read super old books on HathiTrust.org
- Edmund Burke’s collected writings – Some people read Burke for his political philosophy but I read him to enjoy his elegant writing. No one writes like that anymore.
What outfit did you wear the most this month?
A tie dye sweatsuit from Old Navy. I’m obsessed. If you want anything tie dye right now, definitely look at Old Navy.
Favorite thing to eat and drink this week?
We grill a lot of chicken and I love to eat it rolled up in corn tortillas. My favorite brand of tortillas is La Fe. I top our tacos with fresh guacamole. My recipe is enough for two people: 2 roma tomatoes with cores removed, 1/4 cup of white onion, 2 serrano or jalapeño chiles, juice of half a lime, 2 large avocados, salt to taste.
My kids love breakfast smoothies and so do I. Our morning smoothie: vanilla almond milk, a handful of frozen berries and mango, a handful of frozen spinach (shhh.) I put protein powder in mine—my favorite is made by Olly.
What are you watching on TV?
Baseball. I don’t watch much television otherwise.
What’s on your Spotify right now?
Summertime by Chet Baker.
Favorite summer skin and makeup products?
- The best and most nourishing lip balm by 100% Pure
- The Neutrogena color sticks are super moisturizing and so pretty. My favorite is “Pink Grapefruit”
- Milk Cream Blush is buildable and dewy
- Blue Lizard SPF – gentle but effective

The Butterfly
by Alice Freeman Palmer
I hold you at last in my hand,
Exquisite child of the air.
Can I ever understand
How you grew to be so fair?
You came to my linden tree
To taste its delicious sweet,
I sitting here in the shadow and shine
Playing around its feet.
Now I hold you fast in my hand,
You marvelous butterfly,
Till you help me to understand
The eternal mystery.
From that creeping thing in the dust
To this shining bliss in the blue!
God give me courage to trust
I can break my chrysalis too!
