The holidays are the best times for baking, aren’t they? We tend to stick to family favorites but we’ll try a new recipe when we’re feeling adventurous. The first task is gathering ingredients. For these Linzer cookies I ordered all our ingredients using Walmart+ from the comfort of our couch. Membership to Walmart+ includes free delivery from your local store (on purchases of at least $35, some restrictions apply.) You can shop anything at your local store so to this order I added groceries, cookie cutters, and a few little surprises for the girls’ advent calendar.
Having everything delivered was simple and fast. I got a text notification when my order was on its way and when it was left at my doorstep.
So, why Linzer cookies? They’re some of the prettiest holiday cookies you can bake, no icing skills required. The dusting of sugar reminds me of snow and the jewel-like centers feel so festive. They almost look like little presents! The cookie itself is tender, buttery, accented with citrus, and delicate. I followed this recipe exactly. The girls loved them and proclaimed them a new holiday tradition.
I’m loving Walmart+ for a couple different reasons. These include member prices on fuel and mobile scan & go—use your phone to scan products in-store to pay as you shop. This is so helpful when you want a quick trip to the store! And this month they introduced a great new benefit: Walmart+ free shipping, no order minimum (excludes oversized/freight & Marketplace item). If my local store doesn’t have the cookie cutters I want next time I’m baking I can get free next-day and two-day shipping, no order minimum, on items from Walmart.com.
If you want to try Walmart+ for yourself, check out the 15-day free trial (see site for details). Once you have an account, and if you qualify for the free delivery benefit, navigate to the pickup & delivery section of the app and start shopping. Happy holidays and happy baking.
