In partnership with Walmart+
One of the best things we do in homeschool? So much art! One of the hardest things for me as a homeschooling mom? Time! I spend so much time on the actual schooling part of our day—reading together is the biggest, but also her narrations, math, Latin, astronomy, and music. We love it, yes. But as I said, I’m short on time and always looking for time-saving solutions. Especially when it comes to supplies. We are loving Walmart+ for this reason.
I signed up for a membership this month; it has several benefits. My favorite though is free unlimited delivery (on purchases of at least $35, some restrictions.) I can shop everything at our local Walmart store, meaning homeschooling supplies! Of course, it makes sense to add in some grocery shopping—maybe a couple stocking stuffers—while I’m at it. So that means I get everything I need in one fell swoop.
Winter break and the holidays are on the horizon but since we’ll be home with the girls I’m trying to fill our days with great books and fun projects. My girls are loving winter-themed and Christmas-themed crafts. Especially when they tie into to a book, poem, or a piece of music we’re studying. All these supplies came in our Walmart+ delivery!
Having everything delivered was simple. Once I made an account I navigated to the pickup & delivery part of the app and added everything I needed to my cart. Clay, craft cards and envelopes, paints, watercolor paper, Mod Podge (glossy and sparkle!) I also got some Crayola goodies for our toddler like jumbo crayons and mess-free wonder markers and coloring books. Select a delivery date, go through the checkout process, and you’re all done!
By far, the clay “snowgirls” was our favorite project. I am super impressed with the Sculpey clay we got. It was super easy to work with, bake, and paint. We glazed ours with a layer of glossy Mod Podge and added sparkle Mod Podge for accents. We also started making Christmas cards for loved ones with card stock, pipe-cleaners, and glue. Wouldn’t a handmade card be such a nice surprise for someone you haven’t seen in a while? This is such a sweet craft project!
I feel like Walmart+ fills a gap in our household needs so I’m excited to keep using it. Other Walmart+ benefits include member prices on fuel (nice!) and mobile scan & go. The latter is super cool: just use your phone to scan products in-store to pay as you shop. This is super helpful for quick trips to the store! Another time-saver.
Overall using Walmart+ means I can spend more time on projects and less time on errands. If you haven’t added any crafts to your winter plans, I encourage you to do so! And if you’re looking for a great Christmas read, let me suggest “A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote. It involves fruitcake, handmade gifts for loved ones, and a beautiful story of friendship.
