It feels like summer whizzed by, doesn’t it? In the flurry of back-to-school prep, I’ve hardly stopped to really think about the passage of time. First grade feels major. She’s growing so fast (reading chapter books, y’all.) But there is still a wonderful littleness to her that shines through from time to time, which I cherish. I remember when she was a baby… OK, OK, let me pull it together!

This year I got all our school supplies at Walmart. I shopped online for the big stuff because next-day deliver is super convenient and got the remaining items on our list in-store. The prices are fantastic, which helps stretch any back-to-school budget. It’s also a great time to pick up extra supplies for teachers (always so appreciated) or donating school supplies to any local backpack drives.

My kid loves shimmer so this sparkly mermaid backpack is a hit. Other favorites: glitter folders, scented notepad, and glow-in-the-dark glue. Even our baby scored a few cute items, like this critter backpack, some tiny books, and jumbo crayons.
