What Matters Most

The year’s almost halfway done, so it’s a good time to gaze inward as you look forward and ponder: What are your essentials? For me, summer means sunglasses, a weekender bag, toes in the sand, afternoons spent outside with lunches we packed ourselves, a new book in my bag, and making memories with the people I love. It also means a quick wardrobe refresh!

The Look

I styled this look using the Sonoma collection at Kohl’s, which is full of easy-to-wear summer staples. I’m loving linen and these tassels. This is exactly the kind of outfit I’d pack in my bag if I were going on an impromptu adventure.

I liked that this outfit blends the function of light fabrics with fun details like this rope belt and or the strappy leather espadrilles. I wore this to lunch at a local outdoor cafe, though I could have been noshing alfresco in Capri, as good as I felt.

Monday Meditation

Can we talk/think about legs for a bit? You might feel self-conscious about dimples, bruises, scars, or the sheer volume of your thighs. I’ve worried about ALL these at some point or another in my life.

I personally get beyond this mental hurdle through one of two thoughts: (1) I’m not perfect and I don’t owe perfection to myself or anyone, or (2) I’m perfect just the way I am. Either way, I’m wearing cute shorts this summer. Go forth and feel the breeze on your bare legs.
